What you put into your septic system greatly affects its ability to function properly. You need to keep in mind, your septic system contains living organisms that digest and treat the effluent waste.
As a general rule of thumb, DO NOT dispose of anything in your septic system that can just as easily be put in the trash. Septic systems are not designed to be a garbage disposals and solids will build up in the septic tank that, it will need to be pumped more more often. The more solids that go in the septic tank, the more frequently the tank will need to be pumped, the higher the risk that you will have problems with your septic system. Everyone in the household needs to be educated about what is and what should and what should not be disposed in a septic system. You will save yourself a lot of money and headaches, while prolonging the life of your septic system, your family health, property and the environment.
